ANTI-FASCIST PROTECTION MEASURE

The results of my two trips to Berlin in 2008 and shown in the touring show "M3-M6 Unterewegs / Underway", my piece Anti-Fascist Protection Measure consists of a tracing paper replica of a section of the Berlin Wall covered with 136 photographs. The pictures are of people taken covertly on streets in the UK and Berlin. I have then added archaic or baroque descriptors to the images, thus classifying the unknown person, much in the way a surrveillance team might.

Anti-Fascist Protection Measure is one of the euphemisms the East German Government had for what everyone else called The Berlin Wall. 136 people were killed trying to escape to the West during the Wall's existence.

This piece is an argument for tolerance and plurality.
