DESIRE LINES
Desire Lines are paths that have been created by people in an organic fashion, in opposition to the pretermined pathways laid down by planners and /or architects. They are rarely pretty and we see them all over. They are extremely common at Motorway Service Stations. To me, most represent a triumph of a kind. It's a triumph of a mass intelligence that will not be hemmed in by those who hold positions of influence. Good design would build the paths along these lines anyway.
Some, of course, represent laziness or criminality. I've made no distinction between the two.
