On May 20th 2007, I ran an art workshop at Workington Library. It was part of local history month and I decided to reproduce, using paint and collage, the image, or something like it of LS Lowry's drawing of Jane Pit. I used the technique of breaking up the image into twelve pieces and then reassembling them. The sky was made up of blue drawings and writing, the building itself is local papers collaged to produce the grey. The reuslt is an image that is fragmented, but recognisable - at least to residents of Workington. Thanks to all those that particitpated and to Jethro Bampton who put it together. |
